Who We Are

This has been an exceptionally exciting week as we have officially launched our organization and have begun sharing or vision and goals with our neighbors and friends throughout Bedford County. The response from the community has been welcomed with overwhelming support and positivity.

“Finally, someone is saying it.”

“It’s about time.”

“How can I help?”

As we wrap up this busy week, we want to share a bit more about who we are and what we hope to accomplish.

“Finally, someone is saying it.” Our organization is firmly rooted in the belief that sensible and pragmatic approaches to government can be employed for the betterment of our entire community. This, however, requires the effort of knowledgeable and informed leaders. The best solutions are crafted through diligence and cooperation; they are not knee-jerk tantrums that express no regard for potentially negative ramifications. We are building an organization that identifies and supports leaders who are committed to that demanding work.

“It’s about time.” It IS about time. It is about time that Shelbyville and Bedford County had an organization that empowers leaders who embody honesty, integrity, and visionary leadership. We are fortunate to have some elected leaders who are sterling examples of these ideals, and we will do all we can to support them. It’s also about time we work to ensure all of our community leaders reflect these core values, and we will also be working to ensure voters have quality candidates on their ballots. It’s also about time as we near Election Day in November. While much of the conversation will focus on Donald Trump and Joe Biden, there are also local elections that will greatly impact our day-to-day life in Bedford County. As that time approaches, we will work to have the greatest impact we possibly can.

“How can I help?” There are many ways. In the coming weeks, we will share more about our executive committee, about our partnerships, and our views regarding critical and timely local issues. But you can help us by spreading the word to your friends and neighbors about our organization, about our mission and about our vision for our community. You can help by donating through our website or by contacting us directly. This week has been the culmination of a lot of hard work. But there is much work that remains to be done, and there are many ways to be part of this effort.

Lastly, this organization was founded in our community by members of our community- by citizens who are committed to putting forth our best ideals and our best ideas and to supporting leaders who are committed to solving difficult problems. Come be a part of what we are hoping to accomplish. Come be a part of A Better Bedford.
